Nocturne — dark editorial
A moonlit portfolio: towering serif, a two-way marquee, a numbered index of every offering, and chapters that stack like pages as you scroll. For the school as a body of work.

Tide — scroll story
A seaside photograph holds the first screen; scroll, and a dark panel rises over it like the tide, carrying the teacher’s story, the method, and the way in — chapter by chapter, ending in white.

Monochrome — masked grid
Black and white, nothing else. Bordered tiles float over one giant outlined word per chapter — IYENGAR, PRACTICE, NORTHCOTE — each tile a window onto the same background.

Paper — quiet minimal
The calmest of the five: narrow columns, wide margins, a moss-green accent. Classes listed like a syllabus, pricing on two quiet cards, reviews in a hand-turned carousel.

Poster — single screen
No scrolling at all. One poster, four corners — move your cursor and the surface erases to reveal a second layer beneath; tap a corner for practice, pricing, questions, or booking.

About the school
Yoga Essence is a boutique yoga school in Northcote, Auckland, founded by Marcia Leite — the teacher who opened Birkenhead’s first yoga school. Some of her students have practised with her since 2004; many have stayed five years or more. Since 2018 the school has made its home at 2/2 Howard Road, Northcote.
Iyengar yoga — the Hatha tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar — is known for precision, sequencing, and the intelligent use of props. The school also offers workshops, retreats, Ayurvedic lifestyle consultation and psychological counselling, Ayurvedic massage, and Iyengar teacher training. Each concept above carries the full picture: classes, rates, the beginners’ room, private and corporate sessions, questions answered, and how to enquire.
