A basic filter changed on schedule beats an expensive filter left in place. For most homes: a standard 1-inch pleated filter, replaced every 1 to 3 months. High-MERV or thick media filters only help if your ductwork can handle the extra airflow resistance — too restrictive a filter can starve the blower and freeze a coil. On every tune-up we check static pressure and tell you honestly what your system can handle.
