A quiet ramen bar, loud broth
Menya Chinatown cooks ramen the way Japanese BBQ chefs build flavour — over heat, over time. Eighteen-hour tonkotsu, deep miso, clean shoyu in the heart of Sydney's Chinatown. Dine in or take away, six days a week.
Why we exist
"Most ramen shops start with the noodle. We start with the fire — eighteen hours of it, before the first bowl is poured."— The kitchen, Menya Chinatown
Our roots are in Japanese BBQ, and the bowls show it: smoky depth, rendered richness, broths that taste like they took all day — because they did. Then noodles to order, chashu with real char, and the egg you can't resist.
The room
Counter seats facing the kitchen for solo bowls; tables for the whole crew. Lanterns overhead, steam in the air, the clatter of a kitchen that never really slows down.
Japanese beer, sake and shochu with your ramen. Card and Eftpos welcome. Walk-ins welcome; Friday and Saturday nights book out, so call ahead.
