Roof replacement & installation
Full tear-off down to the deck, then a complete rebuild: insulation and vapour barrier, underlayment, and your choice of shingle or membrane, installed to manufacturer spec.
Roof replacement, emergency repair, and exteriors — built for Calgary weather. Owner-run by Jayson Prest since 2014. Licensed, bonded & insured, with a lifetime workmanship warranty on every roof.
I'm Jayson Prest. I started H&J Roofing and Exteriors in 2014 with one crew and a simple rule: the person who quotes your roof is the person who shows up to build it. No subcontractors. No hand-offs. No call centre. Twelve years later, that is still how we work. Calgary weather is rough on roofs — hail in July, freeze and thaw all winter — so we build for it: proper insulation, proper underlayment, and a lifetime workmanship warranty standing behind every job. You deal directly with the owners, you get one point of contact from estimate to final inspection, and the job gets done fast.
Every service below is done by our own crew — never subcontracted.
Full tear-off down to the deck, then a complete rebuild: insulation and vapour barrier, underlayment, and your choice of shingle or membrane, installed to manufacturer spec.
Hail, wind, fallen branches, sudden leaks. We take emergency calls seven days a week, 7:00am–7:00pm, and get a crew out fast to stop the damage before it spreads.
EPDM rubber, modified bitumen (SBS), and built-up tar-and-gravel systems for commercial buildings and low-slope homes. Done right, a flat roof lasts for decades.
The in-between pitches most roofers rush. We detail every seam and flashing so low-slope sections shed water instead of holding it.
Calgary's classic pitched roofs in asphalt shingle or metal. Proper ventilation and ice-dam detailing for the freeze-thaw cycle.
Architectural shingles in a range of colours and profiles — the workhorse of Calgary residential roofing, installed with full underlayment.
Standing-seam and panel metal for homeowners who want the last roof they'll buy. Sheds snow, shrugs off hail, and outlives shingles by decades.
Fibre-cement siding that stands up to hail and sun. We often pair siding with a roof replacement so the whole exterior is done in one project.
Eavestroughs formed to the length of your roofline and sized for prairie downpours, hung with proper slope so water actually leaves the building.
Vented soffit and capped fascia that protect the roof edge and let the attic breathe — the details that decide how long a roof lasts.
Nine steps, one crew, one point of contact. This is the same sequence on every job, residential or commercial.
We come out, walk the roof, check attic ventilation, and hand you a written estimate. No pressure, no sign-today discounts.
Shingles, membrane, flashing and vents ordered to spec for your roof — matched to colour and profile before anything is torn off.
Landscaping protected, tarps down, plywood over windows and decks. Your property is treated like it's ours.
Where the assembly needs it, insulation and vapour barrier go in first — the layer that keeps heat where it belongs.
Full underlayment across the deck, with ice-and-water shield at eaves and valleys where Calgary winters demand it.
Shingles, metal panels, or membrane installed to manufacturer specification — straight courses, proper fastening, no shortcuts.
Flashing, vents, ridge caps and penetrations finished and sealed. Most leaks start here, so we don't rush this step.
Full cleanup with a magnetic nail sweep of the yard and driveway. All waste hauled away the same day.
Final walkthrough with you on the ground and photos from the roof. You sign off only when it's right — and the lifetime workmanship warranty starts that day.
Two kinds of clients, one standard of work.
Storm damage doesn't keep office hours. When hail or wind opens up your roof, call us — seven days a week, 7:00am–7:00pm — and we'll get a crew out to stop the water. We document everything for your insurance claim and can meet the adjuster on site.
Steep-slope replacements, metal roofs, and full exterior packages — roof, Hardie Board siding, eavestroughs, soffit and fascia in one coordinated project.
Flat and low-slope systems for offices, warehouses, and retail: EPDM rubber, modified bitumen (SBS), and built-up tar-and-gravel — repaired or replaced.

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.
It comes down to age and extent. A roof under 15 years with isolated storm damage is usually a repair. Curling shingles, widespread granule loss, or leaks in more than one spot point to replacement. Our assessment is free, and we'll tell you honestly which one it is — we'd rather earn a repair customer for life than sell a roof you don't need yet.
Most Calgary homes take one to three days from tear-off to final cleanup. Larger homes, steep pitches, or full exterior packages take longer. You'll get a firm schedule in your written estimate, and we stick to it.
Yes. We document the damage with photos, give you a scope of work for the claim, and can meet your adjuster on site. Hail is a fact of life in Calgary — we've worked through plenty of claim seasons.
Two layers. Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers how the roof was installed — if our workmanship fails, we fix it. On top of that, the shingle or membrane manufacturer warranties the material itself. Both are in writing before we start.
Yes, with cold-weather practices: materials stored warm, adhesives and sealants rated for low temperatures, and scheduling around extreme cold snaps. Some membrane systems need a temperature window, which we'll flag in your estimate.
Tell us what's going on with your roof and we'll call back to set up a free assessment — usually within one business day.
