FAQ

Why does my heat pump ice up?

Light frost that melts in the defrost cycle is normal; persistent heavy ice is not. Low refrigerant, a bad defrost sensor or blocked airflow are the usual suspects. Recurring ice strains the compressor — get it checked before a small fault becomes a big one.

Repair or replace my old unit?

Rule of thumb: under ~10 years, repair; over 12–15 with repeat failures, replace. We will lay out both options with real numbers — repair cost versus replacement cost plus energy savings — and let you decide.

How often does a heat pump need service?

Once a year at minimum. Vancouver winters work heat pumps hard. A yearly tune-up catches refrigerant loss, dirty coils and electrical wear early. Commercial equipment belongs on a scheduled plan.

What does "quote before work" mean exactly?

You approve a firm price before we start. We inspect, explain, quote. If the job changes once we open the unit, we stop and re-quote. You never pay for work you did not approve.

Do you service businesses too?

Yes — light commercial is half our week. Rooftop units, walk-in coolers, reach-ins and ice machines for cafes, restaurants and small retail, with priority scheduling when something breaks.
