The studio

Trace Zen Yoga grew out of one question: what would a room feel like if it was built entirely around your nervous system? Founder Tracy — a nurse by training — started with sound. Gong baths first, then the breathwork of Kundalini, then Reiki, then a full weekly schedule. Today the Bell Road studio is part yoga shala, part sound sanctuary, part neighborhood refuge.

This is a Black-owned, women-owned studio, and it runs like one: personal, unhurried, and honest about what each practice can and cannot do. Classes stay small enough that a teacher can actually see you. If you have never done yoga, you are the person the schedule was written for.

Sound is the signature here. In a sound bath you lie down, get warm, and let live gongs and crystal bowls do the work — no experience, no flexibility, no chanting required unless you want it. People come in carrying the week and leave quieter than they arrived.

Onsite classes at 1601 E Bell Rd Suite A1, Phoenix — with free parking and wheelchair-accessible entrance. Online classes run for anyone outside the neighborhood.

Beyond the mat there is a 60-minute Reiki practice, massage therapy with Gina B. (including acoustic massage and vibrational therapy), guided meditation, restorative evenings, and Tylrelax events and retreats through the year. The in-studio boutique carries the small things people keep asking about after class.

C — Questions

Before you book.

Do I need experience to join a sound bath?

No. You lie down, close your eyes, and listen. There is nothing to learn beforehand and no wrong way to receive it — first-timers are the majority at most sessions.

What is the difference between Kundalini and restorative yoga?

Kundalini is active: breath patterns, movement, chanting, and meditation in one class. Restorative is the opposite: still, supported postures held for minutes. Many students do both in the same week.

What should I bring to my first class?

Just yourself and clothes you can move in. Mats, props, blankets, and cushions are provided; water is available. Arrive about ten minutes early.

Do you offer private sessions?

Yes — private Reiki, private sound sessions, and one-on-one yoga are all available by appointment. Call (602) 816-4406 to arrange a time.
