Take Root Gardens is a Vancouver design-and-build studio for outdoor space. For more than ten years we have drawn the plans, moved the soil, laid the stone, and planted the beds ourselves.

The studio is deliberately full-service: one crew from first sketch to final walkthrough, so the person who designed your garden is the person planting it.

Most of our work: full yards, front entries, side passages, rooftops. If it is your home and it is outdoors, we probably do it.

Questions, answered

How much does a garden design cost in Vancouver? +

It depends on yard size and scope. A planting refresh costs far less than a full design-and-build with patios and walls. Call us and we will tell you honestly whether your budget fits your wish list. Numbers here are samples only.

Do you handle permits? +

For most garden work, none are needed. Taller retaining walls and some drainage work can need one — we flag it at the site visit and handle paperwork for what we build.

How long does a typical project take? +

Design takes two to four weeks; builds vary. Planting beds take days; full yards with patios, walls, and lighting usually run three to six weeks.

Do you maintain gardens after the build? +

We design for low maintenance. Right plants, right spots, a seasonal care sheet, and first-year questions answered.
