A yoga studio in Phoenix, AZ

Morning light,
taught slowly.

Surya Yoga started with a simple observation: Phoenix has three hundred days of sun a year, and most yoga studios here act like the weather does not exist. We built the schedule around the desert instead — early classes that catch the cool air, evening classes that wind the day down, and a room that stays warm without ever pretending to be a sauna.

The studio itself is small on purpose. One room, east-facing windows, no mirrors, and class sizes capped so the teacher can see every student. We teach yoga as a daily practice, not a performance. Beginners get Foundations, a class that takes the basics apart slowly. Everyone else gets flow, strength, yin, and breathwork in honest proportions. Come ten minutes early, borrow a mat if you need one, and take the back row. We will take it from there.

Five ways to
spend an hour.

Every card below is a window onto the same sentence — the one we repeat at the start of every class. Read the cards, find the hour that fits your life, and call us if you are torn between two. Sample schedule; confirm times by phone.

01 / FLOW

Sunrise Flow

Sixty minutes of breath-linked vinyasa and the backbone of our schedule. We start slow, build real heat through standing sequences and balance work, and land in a long cool-down. Teachers change the middle of the sequence weekly, so the class never goes stale. The 6 a.m. has its own loyal crowd — quiet nods, no small talk required.

02 / BASICS

Foundations

Yoga from the ground up. Basic shapes broken down joint by joint, props everywhere, and questions welcome mid-class. Start here if you are new; return here if something aches.

03 / STRENGTH

Power Hour

Faster, stronger vinyasa with long holds and core work woven through the whole hour. Still breath-led — if you cannot breathe through it, you back off. Some experience recommended.

Intermediate60 minMidday + Sat
04 / STILLNESS

Deep Yin

Seventy-five minutes on the floor in a low, warm room. A handful of shapes held for minutes at a time while your nervous system finally gets the memo. Runners, nurses, new parents, desk workers — this is where the city comes to undo itself. Bring socks. Leave the phone in the cubby. Do not schedule anything demanding for right after; you will float.

05 / BREATH

Breath & Sit

Thirty minutes, zero movement. Breathing patterns and a short guided sit. Pairs with everything; stands alone fine. Chairs available.

Questions,
answered.

Q1I've never done yoga. Where do I start?

Foundations. It is built for exactly this — slow, prop-friendly, questions welcome. Tell the teacher it is your first class; they will keep a quiet eye on you without singling you out.

Q2Do I need to be flexible already?

No. Flexibility is the result, not the entrance exam. Half our students arrived stiff — runners, lifters, desk workers — and the props exist so every shape fits the body you brought today.

Q3How warm is the room, really?

Low 80s — warm enough that muscles loosen, never the 100-degree hot-yoga experience. If you want true hot yoga we will tell you honestly that we are not that studio.

Q4Can I walk in, or do I book?

Book. Classes are capped and the good hours fill a day ahead. Walk-ins only get a spot if one happens to be open.

Q5What if I have an injury?

Call us before class, not after. Describe what is going on and we will tell you which classes fit and which to skip. For anything serious, start with a private session.

Q6Can I pause a membership?

Yes — one week's notice, no fee, no guilt trip. Injuries, travel, new babies: life happens, and we would rather have you back in three months than lose you to a cancellation you resent.
