Chapter 01 — The story

Our Calgary roots run deep. Five decades of shaping the ground this city stands on.

We started with shovels and a simple standard: do the work properly, then come back and make sure it stayed proper. More than fifty years later, Peter Hughes Landscape is one of Alberta's leading landscape companies — culture-driven, staffed by people we train and keep, and stubbornly solution-focused long after the last day on site.

The province noticed. Our residential maintenance earned Landscape Alberta's Award of Excellence twice — Mount Royal in 2011, Upper Elbow Park in 2008. Awards gather dust; what matters is the habit behind them: lawns striped, beds edged, snow gone before you wake.

Summer / Maintenance

Lawns mowed on schedule, beds weeded and edged, shrubs pruned at the right moment — not whenever someone remembers. Your garden, kept at the standard it was built to.

2011

Mount Royal — Landscape Alberta's Award of Excellence, Residential Maintenance. A mature estate garden held at show standard across the seasons.

Landscape construction

Full builds from square one — grading, drainage, stonework, planting beds, lawns. We transform the property and lift its value, then hand you something that looks finished on day one and better in year three.

Property maintenance

Year-round programs: mowing, edging, pruning, seasonal cleanups and bed turnover. Lawns stay fresh, beds stay primed for new growth, and you never think about it.

iii.

Snow & ice removal

November to April we go winter-tough: sidewalks, driveways, parking lots — plowed, salted, hauled when it piles up. Safe footing for staff, customers and family.

We come out and read the property — drainage, sun, soil, what you want from it. Options discussed on the spot.

Do you work through winter? +

Yes — winter is half our business. Snow and ice removal runs November through April: sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, salting and hauling. Most clients keep us year-round.

What does a project cost? +

We price after a site visit — no guesswork quotes. As a sample: a seasonal bed refresh around $XXX (sample), a full front-yard rebuild from $XX,XXX (sample). Every estimate is line-itemed.

Will you maintain a yard you didn't build? +

Happily — that's a large part of our work. We assess what's there, repair what needs it, and put the property on a program.

Where do you work? +

Calgary and surrounding areas — Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere, Strathmore, High River. For the right project, we travel further.

Are you insured? +

Fully licensed and insured. Commercial clients receive documentation with their contract.
