01 — About the clinic

Straightforward dentistry, close to home

Papanui Dental Clinic is a family dental clinic in Papanui, Christchurch. We look after everyday smiles: six-monthly check-ups, professional cleaning, tooth-coloured fillings, crowns, root canal treatment and gentle extractions. If a tooth breaks on a Saturday or a filling falls out before work, our emergency slots are there for that too. No jargon, no upsell — we explain what we see, what it costs, and what can wait.

02 — TREATMENT INDEX

What we do

01

General check-ups

A full look over teeth, gums and bite, with x-rays only when they are genuinely needed. We talk through what we find in plain English before anything is booked in.

02

Scale & polish

Professional removal of tartar and staining above and below the gum line, finished with a polish. The backbone of healthy gums — most people benefit once or twice a year.

03

White fillings

Tooth-coloured composite fillings that blend with the natural tooth. Used for cavities and for replacing old, worn fillings.

04

Crowns & bridges

When a tooth is too damaged for a filling, a crown caps and protects it. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth using the neighbours as anchors.

05

Root canal treatment

Saves a tooth whose nerve is infected or damaged. Usually two visits: clean out the infection, then seal and crown the tooth.

06

Extractions

When a tooth cannot be saved, we remove it as gently as possible and talk through what comes next — options, timing and cost.

07

Dentures

Full and partial dentures, made to fit comfortably and look natural. Adjustments after fitting are part of the service.

Three ways
we look after you

A

Your first visit

New patients start with a full check-up and clean. We take a medical history, check every tooth and the gums, and only take x-rays if we need them. You leave with a written plan: what is urgent, what can wait, and what each step costs.

B

Keeping teeth for life

Most dental problems are cheapest when they are small. Regular check-ups and cleans catch decay and gum disease early — the difference between a small filling now and a root canal later.

C

When it hurts

Dental pain does not keep office hours. We hold emergency slots every working day for toothache, broken teeth, swelling and lost fillings or crowns. Call as early in the day as you can.

03 — How we work

From first call to final check

01

Call or request online

Phone the clinic or send the form below. Tell us what is going on — pain, a broken tooth, or just "it has been a while". We will find a time that suits.

02

Examination & plan

We examine, explain what we see in plain language, and give you a written plan with costs. Nothing happens without your say-so.

03

Treatment

We work in stages, starting with anything urgent. Numbing is always offered, and we check you are comfortable before we begin.

04

Aftercare & recall

You get written aftercare instructions, and we book your next check-up before you leave. Reminders come by text or phone — your choice.

05 — Questions

Asked at the front desk

Are you taking new patients?

Yes — new patients are welcome. Book a first check-up and clean; bring any recent x-rays if you have them, though we can take new ones if needed.

What does a check-up cost?

It depends on what is needed, and we quote before we start. A standard check-up and clean is our most common first visit. Anything extra — x-rays, fillings — is listed on your written plan with a price next to it. All prices shown on this page are samples.

I have toothache. How fast can I be seen?

Call us as early in the day as you can — (555) 010-2030. We hold emergency slots every working day and aim for same-day care for pain, swelling, broken or knocked-out teeth.

Do you see children?

Yes, the whole family. Children's check-ups focus on prevention and on making the visit easy. Under-18s in New Zealand are eligible for free basic dental care — ask us what is covered.

Where do I park?

There is street parking around the clinic in Papanui. Allow a few extra minutes at busy times of day and arrive five minutes before your appointment.
