The practice
Green Care Project started in 2015 with a simple intent: do good on the land we live on. Since then it has grown into one of the most environmentally conscious landscape practices on Australia's east coast — a multidisciplinary team spanning design, construction, horticultural maintenance and environmental consultancy. Because the same people design, build and care for your garden, nothing is lost between the drawing and the digging. The result is outdoor space that feels natural, functional and quietly remarkable — and keeps thriving long after handover.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and live — the Turrbal, Jagera, Bundjalung, Gubbi Gubbi, Waka Waka and Quandamooka peoples — and pay our respects to their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.
Service index
Site analysis, concept design and documentation for gardens, courtyards and commercial grounds — every plan drawn for Brisbane's subtropical climate, your soil, and how you actually live outdoors.
Design 02Retaining walls, paving, decking, drainage, irrigation and structural planting — built by our own crews with documented workmanship, not subcontracted into the unknown.
Build 03Scheduled care programs for established gardens: pruning, mulching, feeding and seasonal adjustments that keep native plantings dense, healthy and weed-free year-round.
Care 04Ecological assessments, native species selection and habitat-friendly planting plans — the consultancy discipline that keeps every project honest about its footprint.
Advise 05Tired lawns, failed exotics and overgrown beds rebuilt into low-maintenance native landscapes. We work with what your site gives us instead of fighting it.
Renew 06Apartment common areas, hospitality venues, workplaces and retail frontages — landscapes that welcome people in and cost less to keep looking sharp.
CommercialHow a project moves — no surprises
We walk the site with you — sun, shade, drainage, existing trees, how you use the space. You get a written scope and an honest budget range before anything is drawn.
Two to three concept directions built around native planting palettes suited to your microclimate. You choose a direction; we refine it with you, not at you.
Construction drawings, drainage and irrigation layouts, and planting schedules detailed enough that any builder could price it — but ours build it.
Our own crews build to the drawings — retaining, paving, soil works, planting, lighting. A dedicated site lead and weekly photo updates while work is underway.
You get a plant-by-plant care guide and a maintenance schedule. Optional scheduled care visits keep the garden maturing the way the design intended.
Residential
Brisbane's climate is generous and unforgiving in the same week. We design residential gardens around plants that evolved for it — grevilleas, banksias, lomandras, native grasses — so your garden needs less water, less fertiliser and less of your weekends.
Typical residential projects: full backyard transformations, front-yard street appeal, pool surrounds, native cottage gardens, shaded courtyard retreats, and edible-native kitchen gardens. Sample pricing below is indicative only — every site is quoted individually.
SAMPLE PRICING — indicative only, quoted per site:
· Concept design: from $1,800 (sample)
· Planting refresh (existing beds): from $95/m² (sample)
· Full backyard design + build: $25k–$80k+ typical (sample)
Apartment complexes, cafés, offices and retail strips across Brisbane use our commercial service for one reason: landscapes that still look intentional in year three, not just week three.
We handle body-corporate approvals, staged works around trading hours, and long-term maintenance contracts with fixed schedules and reporting — so committees and managers always know what's happening and what it costs.
SAMPLE PRICING — indicative only:
· Commercial planting install: quoted per site (sample)
· Scheduled maintenance: from $220/visit (sample)

Questions, answered first
Most residential projects run 4–12 weeks from design sign-off to handover. A planting refresh can be done in days; a full backyard with retaining, paving and drainage usually needs 6–10 weeks of construction. We give you a written program with your fixed quote — and we tell you honestly if your deadline isn't realistic.
Because they already know how to live here. Native species handle Brisbane's heat, storms and clay soils with far less water and fertiliser than imported plants — and they feed local birds, bees and butterflies. A native garden costs less to run and gives more back.
We serve Brisbane and surrounding areas — from the inner city and northside suburbs through to the bayside, Logan and Ipswich corridors, plus the Sunshine and Gold Coasts for larger projects. Call 07 3189 6144 to check your suburb.
Yes — horticultural maintenance is one of our four core disciplines. Scheduled visits cover pruning, mulching, feeding and seasonal adjustments. It's optional, but gardens under our care plan establish faster and stay true to the design.
Design is quoted separately, so you're never locked in. Sample pricing: concept design from $1,800 (sample). The design fee is credited against construction if we build the project — you only ever pay once for the thinking.
