Tropical green,
taught one plant at a time.

Casaplanta Garden Center is a family-run nursery and landscape company in southwest Miami — part garden center, part working landscape division, all of it hands-on.

The retail floor holds indoor and outdoor plants for South Florida life: tropical palms, shade trees and flowering shrubs, calathea and other houseplants, vanda orchids, succulent arrangements, herbs and vegetables, Florida native plants, annuals and perennials. Around them: Talavera pottery, fountains, outdoor furniture, garden décor, and the fertilizers to keep it all fed. Walk the full-sun field, the shaded half of the shade house, and the pottery court at your own pace.

Our crew is bilingual — English y español — and our nursery team leads the floor. We are known for one thing above the price tag: we teach. Fertilizing, pruning, watering — you leave with the plant and the know-how.

We won’t just sell you a plant — we will teach you how to care for it.

Field notes

From the potting bench.

Watering, feeding, pruning — in our own words. The same advice we give at the register, written down.

1 / 6
Watering
“Your calathea tells you when it’s thirsty — the top inch of soil goes dry and the leaves sit a little flatter. Bright, indirect light. No cold drafts from the A/C.”

The shade-house crew · on calathea

Watering
“Vandas like to hang bare-root and drink the air. Mist the roots every morning in summer, give them bright light, and keep them out of the noon blast.”

The orchid corner · on vanda orchids

Watering
“Succulent arrangements want a soak and then neglect. Water deeply, let the soil go fully dry, repeat. Gritty mix, drainage hole, done.”

The potting bench · on succulent arrangements

Feeding
“Feed in the growing season, not in a panic. A slow-release fertilizer in spring does more than a rescue dose in July. Houseplants: half of what the label says.”

Nursery team · on fertilizing

Pruning
“Prune back to a node, and wipe your shears between plants. Flowering shrubs get their haircut after the bloom flush — not before.”

The install team · on pruning

Planting
“New palms and trees spend their first month making roots, not leaves. Deep water two or three times a week, mulch in a wide ring, and keep it off the trunk.”

The install team · on new plantings

The grounds · Three parts

Walk it in an afternoon.

The grounds may sound big until you start walking. Most visitors do the loop in an hour — slower if the shade house gets them.

01

Full-sun field

Tropical palms, flowering trees, and sun-loving shrubs in long rows. This is where South Florida gardens start — come see the mature sizes before you plant.

02

Shade house

Half-shade for the plants that burn in August: calathea, vanda orchids, and houseplants. Cooler, quieter — the staff’s favorite corner.

03

Pottery & furniture court

Talavera pottery, fountains, outdoor furniture, and garden décor — the finishing layer. Pick the pot first; we’ll help you pick the plant that fits it.

Retail · In detail
