Calgary Landscaping

We build structural landscapes designed from the ground up — patios, decks, retaining walls and outdoor living spaces planned for Calgary's clay soils, freeze–thaw cycles and long winters, then constructed to hold their shape for decades.

Serving Calgary and surrounding communities for 23 years. Provincially licensed contractor. Call (403) 237-6300, Mon–Fri 8am–5pm, and tell us what your yard should become.

01 / About

A yard is not a picture. It is a structure — one that has to survive Chinook melt, spring flooding, clay that heaves and frost that never really apologizes. Our integrated design-and-construction process leaves no stone unturned: every patio, wall and planting bed is planned for soil, drainage, spacing and long-term growth before a single shovel hits the ground. That is why our work is still standing straight after twenty-three Calgary winters.

Planned first

Design happens on paper before construction. Grades are set, drainage is drawn, materials are chosen for freeze–thaw durability — so the build phase is execution, not improvisation.

Sequenced build

Hardscape before softscape, drainage before planting, structures before finishes. The order of operations is what keeps a landscape from falling apart in year three.

Long-term performance

We plan for how the yard ages: root zones, settlement, snow load, irrigation efficiency. A landscape that looks good on day one and still looks right on day one thousand.

01Landscape designFull plans drawn for your lot: grading, drainage, planting and hardscape laid out together so nothing gets built twice. Design first, construction second — always.Planning 02PatiosWell-planned patios built for comfort and durability — pavers or natural stone, properly based and edged for Calgary's heaving soils.Hardscape 03DecksThoughtfully designed decks built for long-term enjoyment, framed for snow load and finished for low-maintenance summers.Hardscape 04Retaining wallsStructural retaining walls built to manage grade and stability — the engineering behind a sloped yard that stays put.Structure 05Pergolas & fencesCustom outdoor structures that add function and privacy: pergolas, fences and screens integrated into the landscape, not bolted on after.Structure 06IrrigationEfficient irrigation systems for healthy landscapes — zoned, pressure-balanced and winterized before the first hard freeze.Systems 07LightingSelected and installed for safety, usability and security — path, step and accent lighting that makes the yard work after dark.Systems 08Planting & finishingTrees, shrubs and beds planned for soil, spacing and long-term growth in Calgary's climate — the soft layer on top of hard engineering.Softscape

03 / Residential · Commercial

Residential

Backyards that get used, not just looked at. From a first patio to a full property transformation, residential projects get the same engineering discipline as our largest jobs.

  • Full backyard design & construction
  • Front-yard curb appeal rebuilds
  • Outdoor living: kitchens, fire features, seating walls
  • Drainage fixes and grade corrections
  • Seasonal maintenance programs

Commercial

Grounds that hold up to traffic, tenants and Alberta weather. Scheduled, documented and built to spec for property managers and developers.

  • Multi-unit and condo common areas
  • Office and retail frontages
  • Snow-season drainage planning
  • Irrigation audits and retrofits
  • Ongoing grounds maintenance contracts

Residential — 01

Backyard, re-engineered

Most residential calls start the same way: a yard that pools water, a patio that tilted, a slope nobody trusts. We start with a site visit and a frank read of the drainage and grade — then design a fix that is also an upgrade. Patios, walls, plantings and lighting arrive as one plan, built in the right sequence.

Design — 02

Drawn before it's built

Our design phase produces real construction drawings: grades, wall sections, planting plans, lighting layouts. You see exactly what gets built and why. Changes happen on paper, where they cost nothing, instead of on site, where they cost plenty.

Construction — 03

Sequenced, supervised, finished

Excavation, base work, drainage, structures, surfaces, planting, lighting — in that order, supervised daily. We build through Calgary's short season with crews that do one thing at a time and do it properly. Final walkthrough before we call it done.

How we
work

05 / Process
1

Consultation

Call (403) 237-6300 or send the form below. We talk through what you want, what bothers you about the yard now, and what budget range you're comfortable with.

2

Site visit & design

We walk the property, read the drainage and grade, then produce a design with drawings and a fixed-scope estimate. No guesswork, no open-ended billing.

3

Construction

Sequenced build with daily supervision. You know the schedule, you know the crew, and the site is left clean at the end of every day.

4

Walkthrough & care

Final walkthrough together, then written care guidance for plantings and systems — plus a maintenance program if you want one.

What it
costs

06 / Sample pricing

Every yard is different — soil, access, materials and scope move the number. The ranges below come from our published 2026 guide so you can calibrate before you call. Final pricing always follows a consultation and design.

Project typeTypical range
Basic backyard refresh (planting, sod, small beds)Sample$5,000 – $15,000
Patio or deck installationSample$10,000 – $25,000
Full transformation (hardscape + walls + planting)Sample$25,000 – $60,000+
Design-only packageSampleQuoted per lot

09 / FAQ
Do I need a design before construction starts?
Yes — professional design is how you avoid building twice. Patios, decks and walls have to fit the site's grade and drainage, and in Calgary a design drawn first prevents the costly mid-build changes we get called in to fix.
How does Calgary's climate change the way you build?
Clay soils, freeze–thaw cycles and Chinook melt dictate everything: deeper bases under patios, drainage sized for spring runoff, plant species chosen for zone hardiness. Projects planned around these constraints last; projects that ignore them don't.
Do your projects need permits?
Sometimes. Structures attached to the house, irrigation cross-connection devices and major grade changes can require permits or inspections under Calgary bylaws. We verify what's needed during planning so nothing stalls mid-build.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on scope, materials and weather. Simple planting or lighting goes quickly; full hardscape transformations take longer. After design and site evaluation we give you a realistic timeline — not a hopeful one.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are a provincially licensed Alberta contractor, and we carry the insurance a construction company should carry. Twenty-three years in this market doesn't happen by cutting those corners.
