Blocked sink or toilet — what first?

Don't pour chemical drain cleaner down it — call a plumber. Caustics rarely clear a real blockage and can damage pipes. Common causes: tree roots, grease and fat, hair, tissues and toilet paper. We camera-survey first, then clear by hand or hydro jet.

How do I know if I have a gas leak?

Rotten-egg / sulphur smell is the big one. Also hissing near a fitting, a weakened pilot flame, damaged meter or pipework, or unexplained nausea indoors. Don't touch switches — gas off at the meter if safe, windows open, everyone out, call (555) 010-2030.

Repair or replace my hot water system?
