Before we arrive

- Turn off the water at the stop tap — usually under the kitchen sink, clockwise until it stops.
- If water is near sockets, switch off at the fuse box and keep clear.
- Open cold taps to drain and lower pressure in the pipes.
- Put buckets under drips; lift rugs and electronics out of the way.
- Smell gas? Do not touch switches or create sparks, ventilate, and call for help immediately.
