FIELD NOTES — FOUR CHAPTERS

The roof,
documented.

Most roofing websites show you a smiling crew and a phone number. This is the longer version: what we look at, what we fix, and how the money side works. Written by the people who climb the ladders — plain talk, no sales script.

CHAPTER 01

Storm damage, up close

After a hailstorm, the damage hides. From the driveway your roof can look fine while every slope is bruised — shingles with soft dark spots where the hail knocked the granules off, cracked tiles, dented vents and gutters. Granules washing out of your downspouts after rain are the tell. Left alone, those bruises become leaks two seasons later, and by then the insurance window has questions.

Our move is simple: we come out free, walk every slope, and photograph everything. If there is real damage, you get a photo set you can keep — whether you hire us or not. If the roof is fine, we say so and leave. That honesty is most of our business model.

CHAPTER 02

What "done right" means

A roof is a system, not a blanket of shingles. Tear-off down to clean decking. Soft plywood replaced, not roofed over. Synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield in the valleys and at the eaves, new pipe boots and flashing, ridge vent so the attic can breathe. Skip any one of those and you bought a timer, not a roof.

We build mostly with architectural asphalt shingles — the right call for most DFW homes — and tile where the house can carry it. Every full replacement leaves with our material and labor warranty in writing, plus the manufacturer system warranty registered the same day. The yard gets magnet-swept twice. Your gutters get re-hung straight.

CHAPTER 03

The insurance part, handled

Storm work usually means a claim, and claims are where good roofs go to die of paperwork. We do this with the major carriers every week: full photo documentation before anything is touched, we meet your adjuster on the roof and walk every slope together, and if the first offer comes back short, we write the supplement with the line items they actually pay.

You should never have to argue roofing with an adjuster alone. Most of our storm jobs end with the homeowner paying only the deductible. Ask for Ash — he has run the insurance side of this crew for years and knows exactly what adjusters need to see.

CHAPTER 04

Commercial, without the shutdown

Offices, warehouses, retail strips — flat and low-slope roofs with their own problems: ponding water at drains, blistered membrane at parapets, seams that opened up three summers ago. We re-roof with tapered insulation to fix the drainage plane itself, not just the surface.

And we schedule around your business: staged work on weekends or off-hours, daily cleanup, a project lead your property manager can actually reach. Twice-yearly inspection plans keep drains, seams, and penetrations checked before storm season does it for you.
