A short book in four chapters

Houston roofs, told straight

Most roofers talk at you. We'd rather talk to you. Four short chapters on what matters for a Houston roof — the materials, the inspection, the storms, and the money. Jump to any chapter; the index on the side keeps your place.

Chapter 01 — Materials

Shingle or metal: the only real question

For most Houston homes it comes down to two systems, and neither is a trick. Architectural asphalt shingles cost less, install in days, and blend with the street. Standing-seam metal costs more, shrugs off hail, and reflects heat that shingles absorb. Everything else is a detail we'll walk you through on the ladder.

Asphalt shingles

The sensible default.

  • Lower upfront cost, fast install
  • Easy to repair one slope at a time
  • Holds up for years in Houston heat with basic maintenance

Standing-seam metal

The long game.

  • Folded seams, no exposed screws
  • Hail bounces off instead of bruising
  • Reflective finishes cut attic heat

We install both. If a contractor only sells one material, that's all they'll ever recommend — worth remembering.

Chapter 02 — The inspection

We show you the proof

This is Andy Kelly's whole business in one sentence. The free inspection is a full roof walk with a camera: every lifted shingle, every dried-out vent boot, every soft spot — photographed. You get the photos, a written list of findings, and plain-English options. If the roof is fine, we'll say so and leave.

Chapter 03 — Houston weather

Storm season is the real test

Houston roofs live a hard life: spring hail, summer heat that softens asphalt, hurricane wind that finds every loose edge. After a big storm we get the same calls — leaks that weren't there last week, shingles in the yard. That's what the free inspection is for: a damage check with photos you can hand your insurance adjuster, written up honestly.

Small repairs done early — resealed flashing, replaced boots, a few shingles — are what keep a small storm bill from becoming a full replacement.

Chapter 04 — Money

Pricing, marked honestly

Every number below is a sample to set expectations — your real quote is written after the inspection, with photos attached. Anyone who prices a roof sight unseen is guessing, and you'll pay for the guess either way.

  • Free inspection, photos + written findingsFree
  • Leak repair, typicalSample
  • Asphalt re-roof, typical single-familySample
  • Standing-seam metal, typical single-familySample
